Visiting the D-Day beaches on 6 June from Paris: how should I plan it?
Short answer
Set off early and book ahead: around 6 June, the D-Day anniversary, the Normandy coast is very busy and some roads may be closed or restricted around the ceremony sites, by order of the prefecture. Our price is the same on that day: a full-day tour from €1,400 in an E-Class, on quote. We sell neither access to the official ceremonies nor tickets.
In detail
Next commemorations: from 29 May to 13 June 2027 (announced dates) (83rd anniversary, ceremonies on 6 June; 2027 programme not yet published). The 85th anniversary falls in 2029: milestone anniversaries usually draw more visitors, so book as early as you can.
Access to the official ceremonies depends on their organisers, often by invitation only: check with them directly. The chauffeur drops you off and picks you up wherever traffic is allowed; allow extra time for checks and diversions.
To stay several days, a one-way trip from Paris to Caen / Omaha Beach costs €640 in an E-Class, bookable online; the day with 5 hours on site is booked on quote. For long distances, 48 hours' notice is recommended; around 6 June, book as soon as your dates are known.
