Lyon, world gastronomy capital, France's second tertiary hub after Paris, a major pharmaceutical centre (Sanofi, BioMérieux, Boiron). The TGV inOui makes the trip in 1h57 but does not answer every need.
The Paris-Lyon corridor is one of the densest in France. But the TGV imposes its constraints: fixed schedule, limited luggage, taxi transfers on arrival at Part-Dieu or Perrache to the hotels of Vieux Lyon or the Presqu'île. For travellers with family, gastronomy equipment (vineyard tours), pets or a need for total discretion, the Mercedes S-Class with chauffeur remains the benchmark.

- Paris → Beaune (310 km, 3h) via A6, Autoroute du Soleil. Lunch or coffee break highly recommended in Beaune (capital of Burgundy wine)
- Beaune → Lyon (160 km, 1h30) via A6 then Lyon centre exit. Views over the Côtes du Rhône from Vienne onwards
- Total door to door: 4h30 to 5h depending on traffic and departure/arrival district
