Booking a private chauffeur by the hour — for a half-day, a full day, or even several consecutive days — has nothing in common with a simple transfer. The rate is no longer indicated per kilometre but per hour of availability. And the final bill depends on variables that commercial brochures rarely cover: the chosen vehicle, real time amplitude, kilometres travelled, trips outside Paris, prolonged waits. Here, without hedging, is what an hourly chauffeur in Paris costs in 2026, and how to size your budget exactly.
The principle of the hourly chauffeur
An hourly chauffeur service, sometimes called "chauffeur by the hour" or "by the hour", commits a chauffeur and his vehicle for a defined duration. You decide the programme: successive business meetings, shopping day, sightseeing, event support. The chauffeur stays with you — or waits nearby — for the entire duration booked. It is the inverse of the transfer: instead of A to B, you buy chauffeur time.
The difference is immediately seen in the billing. On a CDG → Paris transfer, you pay €115 whatever the actual time (35 min or 90 min at peak hour). On an hourly booking, you pay by the hour come what may: if the meeting overruns, the meter keeps running. This logic changes the entire budgeting approach.
2026 rate grid — Precellence hourly chauffeur
Here are our public rates for an hourly chauffeur starting from central Paris. All rates include the chauffeur, the vehicle, fuel, mineral water and Wi-Fi.
| Duration | Mercedes E-Class | Mercedes S-Class | Mercedes V-Class (7 seats) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 hours (minimum) | €285 | €495 | €400 |
| 5 hours | €470 | €810 | €655 |
| 8 hours (standard day) | €720 | €1,255 | €1,010 |
| Day + evening (12 h) | €1,020 | €1,790 | €1,430 |
The minimum duration is 3 hours. Below this, you are better off booking a one-off transfer or two successive trips. Beyond 12 hours, we apply a sliding rate on subsequent days: a 3-day booking costs around 15 to 20% less than the sum of three independent days.
What is included — and what is not
Transparency is essential. Here is exactly what the displayed rate covers:
- Professional chauffeur — private chauffeur licence, NDA on request, fluent English as a minimum (other languages on request)
- Mercedes vehicle — under 4 years old, air-conditioned, leather, mineral water, USB-C/Lightning chargers, Wi-Fi
- Fuel and tolls inside Paris — no surcharge
- Short-stay parking — the chauffeur manages and advances any fees
- Material availability — tissues, umbrella, chargers on request
And here is what may be added to the bill:
- Hourly overrun — every hour or part thereof beyond the package is billed at the hourly rate of the chosen class (€95/h in E-Class, €165/h in S-Class)
- Mileage — beyond the included mileage, the supplement is stated in the quote
- Long-stay parking — for missions requiring chargeable parking for more than 2 consecutive hours
How to optimise your hourly budget
The most frequent mistake consists of underestimating the real duration. A client books 5 hours for a shopping day and finishes at 19:00 after extending a lunch: three hours of overrun, €285 extra, whereas a full-day package (€720) would have covered everything. Three rules to adjust:
- Book slightly more than expected. On a dense day, prefer 8 hours rather than 6 hours. The marginal cost of an additional hour in the package is lower than the overrun rate.
- Release the chauffeur between two blocks. If you have 4 hours of meetings in the morning and 3 hours in the evening, do not maintain the hourly chauffeur during lunch. Two separate bookings often cost less than an extended day.
- Choose the right vehicle class. The S-Class costs about 74% more than the E-Class. If you are alone or as a pair, the E-Class is amply sufficient. The S-Class is justified for a VIP client, a diplomatic trip, or a long journey where you work in the car.
Hourly vs trip-by-trip: comparison on a real day
Practical case: an executive has 4 meetings in Paris the same day (9:00 Champs-Élysées, 11:00 La Défense, 14:00 Opéra, 16:00 Bercy), return to hotel at 18:00.
| Option | Detail | Total cost |
|---|---|---|
| 5 independent E-Class trips | 5 × ~€85 | €425 |
| Hourly E-Class (8 h) | Day package | €720 |
On paper, trip-by-trip is cheaper. In reality: each trip implies 15 to 25 min of waiting for a new vehicle, a different chauffeur every time, belongings to move between cars, and the impossibility of leaving a coat or briefcase. The hourly chauffeur buys continuity: same vehicle, same chauffeur, your belongings stay on board, you save 1h30 cumulated over the day. For an executive whose work hour is worth more than €150, the trade-off almost always tilts toward the hourly chauffeur.
Bespoke packages for recurring use
For recurring needs (seasonal professional events, support of an executive over several weeks), we design dedicated packages: terms on quote for regular volumes. Reference rates from our E-Class grid: €90/h for an 8-hour day, €85/h for a 12-hour extended day.
And for complex missions?
Some operations fall outside the scope of a simple hourly booking: protocol, vehicle escort, coordinated multi-vehicles, services across several sites simultaneously. This type of mission — Fashion Week, institutional events, support of foreign delegations — requires planning several vehicles on the same day, with chauffeur changes, briefings and reserved parking zones. The rate then falls outside a standard grid and is subject to a quote. But the order of magnitude remains comparable to the sliding hourly rate applied to volume.
How to book an hourly chauffeur
Three pieces of information are enough for a precise quote:
- Date and time of pickup (and starting address, even approximate)
- Estimated duration or scheduled end time
- Geographic scope: intra-Paris, near suburb, regional trip?
You receive the exact rate and confirmation of the vehicle within 24 hours (within 2 hours during the day on WhatsApp); your chauffeur's name, number plate and direct phone number are sent to you before pick-up. For event or multi-vehicle bookings, we ask for a 10-minute preliminary phone call to scope the mission precisely.
