How do I claim a VAT tax refund at Paris airport?
Short answer
If you live outside the European Union, are at least 16 and stay less than six months, have your tax-free forms validated at a PABLO kiosk at the airport on the day you leave, before you check in your bags. You need purchases of more than one hundred euros, taxes included, in a single shop, and you must leave the European Union with the goods in your luggage.
In detail
The shop issues the form at the time of purchase, on presentation of your passport; purchases made in the same shop over no more than three consecutive days can be combined. Validation must take place before the end of the third month after the month of purchase, and the goods must travel with you.
With a connection at another European Union airport, the rule depends on the stopover: under three hours, validation is done in Paris, on departure; longer, it can be done at the connecting airport. It is a personal procedure: you do it yourself, with your passport and your forms.
Allow time: the kiosk comes before check-in, and kiosks can be busy on peak departure days. With a chauffeur, ask for an earlier pick-up; your chauffeur follows your flight time and drops you in front of your terminal. On departure, our Meet & Greet greeter can accompany you to the tax refund kiosk; the validation itself stays in your name, with your passport.
