Giverny from Paris with a private driver: how long does it take and which option?
Short answer
Giverny and Claude Monet's house are about 75 km from Paris, roughly 1 hour 15 minutes by road. The simplest option is a chauffeur at your disposal who waits during your visit: €470 for 5 hours in an E-Class, €655 in a V-Class, including the drive, waiting and the return. Note that the house and gardens close in winter; the 2026 season ran from 1 April to 1 November.
In detail
Allow about two hours for the house, the water garden and the water-lily pond, more with lunch in the village. With 40 km included per hour, 5 hours easily cover the round trip; to add Vernon or an unhurried lunch, choose 6 hours (€555 in an E-Class). Each hour started beyond that is charged at €95/h.
Only cabin-size bags are allowed on site and there is no left-luggage office: your suitcases stay in the car. Tickets are sold at the entrance, but booking is recommended at weekends and on public holidays; opening hours are 10am to 6pm, last entry 5.30pm. The 2027 season dates have not been published yet.
The chauffeur at disposal is booked online, day or night, with no weekend surcharge; fuel and tolls are included.
